My first two children. I'm going to brag on them a little bit, so bear with me.
Randy, my 9 year old 3rd grader is in a "cluster class" in his school. In MY day, that would be known as a TAG (Talented and Gifted) class, but it's changed now. His class is basically self-paced. They still have a cirriculum they have to follow, but they no longer have to wait for the WHOLE class to catch up before they can go to the next level or subject. He has excelled in his class. Recently, all 3rd graders had to take the Reading TAKS test. A state standardized test that they have to pass in order to graduate to the 4th grade. We were a little worried because Randy has some issues with being able to get past questions he struggles with on tests. He will focus on them and not be able to skip them to continue. He put all of our worries to rest when we found out his test scores! He missed only ONE question on the whole test!!!! He got what is called "commended" rating, meaning he scored REALLY high! We are SO proud of him!!! For the TAKS, it's really a BIG deal that he scored so high! Way to go, RANDY!!!
Riley... It's so hard to be the "little brother" sometimes, but Riley really holds his own. He is doing a WONDERFUL job in Kindergarten! We haven't seen any of the behavior issues we saw at West Point. He is in the top of his class, was ready to pass on to 1st Grade after the 1st 9 weeks, but we decided to wait and let him continue to build his self-esteem up. He can count to 100 by 2's and 5's and will do so in a heartbeat! He's reading, his writing is improving greatly and his speech is coming along nicely. Recently, he was chosen to do the morning announcements at school. He got to say the pledge and lead the school in the "Star Spangled Banner." I understand he did a great job! He's also quite the little social bug! Everywhere in school he goes, everyone seems to know who he is. He gets 4-5 hugs from girls after school and his teacher says the other kids argue over who gets to sit next to him! We're so proud of the leaps and bounds he has made in the past 1/2 of year!

You are a proud momma! And I would be too. It really sounds like the boys are doing very well here in Texas! That's all they needed all along :)
I am glad you are bragging on them. And you should! They're great kids! I've always told you that Riley reminds me of Brian. Well, I have to tell you, Brian did morning announcements too! And of course he's always been social. Get that kid in drama when he gets old enough. It helped Brian in SO many ways!
